Patience is a PROBLEM

To be patient is to endure discomfort without complaint.

At this, I fail. Daily. Patience really is a virtue, one in which I only dream of because it's just not happening here. For me, patience is a problem.

Recently, I've thought to myself (more times than I'd care to admit) that something wasn't happening fast enough or soon enough. Why couldn't a certain date be here already or why wouldn't the person I'm texting respond faster? 20 minutes between texts?! Puh-lease!

I'm impatient.

They say the first step in solving a problem is admitting you have one, right? Well, then I guess I'm on the right track! Ha!

Seriously, I despise even ordering ANYTHING online because it means I'll have to wait for it to arrive when I'd much rather prefer to just go to the store to purchase it and have it immediately. Yes, I'd rather fight the crowds and awful Austin traffic than shop from the comfort of my own home. Hello, my name is Brianna and I have a problem.

I'm constantly reminding myself that the best is yet to come. It's pretty much my mantra these days, which is great and all, except for the fact that I have to wait for the 'yet to come' part of it. I'm telling you, it really is a problem. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want the best right NOW? And if you're shaking your head that you don't, you're lying to yourself. :)

Although I have this problem, I'm working on it. I have a feeling that it'll be one of those 'work in progress' things for the rest of my life, but I'm okay with that. I mean, if I'm truly working on it and trying my best to get better at this whole patience thing, that's all I can do and be proud of, right? Right. I have to face the facts: life is a waiting game. There are so many huge parts of life that involve waiting: dating, planning a wedding, school, buying/selling a house, moving, applying for a job, having kids...the list goes on.

But with all of those things in life that involve waiting, I want to do so patiently. I really do. I don't want to miss out on life because I'm constantly in a panic, impatiently waiting for that email/text or positive results or phone call or what have you. I want to be patient and go with the flow. I want to be able to be okay with buying something online and having to wait for it to be shipped to me. I mean, retail therapy is fabulous in and of itself, and the only thing that could make it better is to do it in some yoga pants from the couch! I'm all about that!

Patience is a virtue and a skill, and I am really going to be intentional on trying to learn said skill. Trying being the key word here.

What are some ways you practice patience? Do you have any tips/tricks/advice on how to learn to be more patient? I'd love to hear about it!

You are right, patience is a virtue. I'm struggling with it right now! This in-between jobs thing is really getting to me and I just want my other job to start. I had a little emotional break down last night about it so reading this today kind of makes me feel less alone in my impatient thoughts! =) Together, we can try to get impatient's butt!
