4th of July, Texas Style!

Every year, our small town church has its annual picnic...the St. John's 4th of July Picnic. It's pretty much a big deal! And for such a small community, it does pretty well. And this year, there were more people than EVER!

Included in attendance this year were our cousins visiting from Germany!  Their visit was highly anticipated, and we had SO.MUCH.FUN! *To see their USA 2014 Travel blog, click here*

We ate delicious food (sauerkraut was definitely my favorite!), walked around, thought about bidding on a donkey, and laughed and laughed and laughed. After a while, though, it got hot. Like, scorching Texas heat, hot. So we all unanimously agreed to head to mom and dad's for a while, since it was only about ten minutes down the road! I'm so glad we did! The laughter only continued.

It cooled down enough for us to enjoy a few hours on the back porch playing washers. We were even blessed with a small thunderstorm! The activities ranged from washer pitching, spider catching, popcorn eating, and laughing. Oh, the laughing!

Finally cooling off!

Viviana avoiding the spiders at all costs...

This sums up Kade's job the entire game!

We then headed back to the picnic for drinks, dancing, and fireworks!

Hermann and Christine dancing at the picnic!

Viviana, me, and mom ... happy 4th!

 Viviana, Hilary, me, and mom.

 The girls again! :)

Saturday, we slept in (thank goodness!) and then all pitched in to load up for our camping trip! We got to the lake only to deal with pouring rain for two hours...not the best start, but not the worst, either!

Not really the way we anticipated getting the boat wet!

 Goodbye rain, hello sunshine!

 My gorgeous sister!! <3

 Dad and me. Selfie time!

 Launching the boat!

 Gorgeous sunset!

 Viviana, Christine, and mom.

 Hermann!

They're absolutely adorable!! Love, love, love them!

Viviana, Christine, and Hermann Kopke! All the way from Germany!

Gorgeous ladies!

Saturday night, we played Skipbo and sipped on Tequila Rose...good times! I will cherish the memories we made this past weekend for the rest of my life! Sunday, we ate a delicious breakfast and then hit the water once more...this time with some tubing!

Deer at the campgrounds!

Tubing time!

Viviana tubing!

She did great

 Hermann and Christine.

They LOVED it! :) Smiles all around!

 The lovebirds! Josh & Chelsea

 Mom's turn!

Josh wanted to drag mom around the lake :). Hilarious!

Dad's ride. He asked for some major waves!

I love this girl to death! <3

I apparently didn't get any pictures of Hilary on the tube (sorry!), as I'm sure I was still trying to recover from my ride. My arms and neck were and still are S-O-R-E! I guess that's what happens when you use muscles you don't normally use on a regular basis. Such is life.

I had such an amazing weekend and couldn't have asked for anything better! We laughed, we loved, we had fun! I'm so blessed with such an amazing family to enjoy times like these with. And to add relatives from overseas we don't get to see very often just made it that much more special! Thank y'all, Christine, Hermann, and Viviana, for spending a few days with us and making it a truly memorable 4th of July celebration! And thanks to mom and dad for hosting all of us...9 people can be a little crazy! Especially 9 family members :).
