This weekend was so busy and honestly exhausting. But, it was also fun and filled with some of my favorite people!
Friday, mom and I headed to New Braunfels for a bachelorette party! And not only a bachelorette party, but the party for my soon-to-be sister-in-law! I still can’t believe my baby brother is getting married next month…just wow. They have to grow up sometime I guess ;). And this weekend, there were definitely grown-up shenanigans going on. They each had their respective parties this weekend, but totally separate from each other.
Friday night, the girls headed to Gristmill in Gruene for a delicious dinner – only I didn’t realize I could sweat that much! It was hot, hot, HOT, and then we were seated outside. Oh my air conditioning.. After dinner, we headed to a few bars downtown, the first of which was also outside. More sweating. I would’ve given anything for a fan, just sayin’. After a drink or two there, they decided to go to another bar, of which DID have air conditioning – thank goodness! It also wasn’t very crowded, which we were extremely grateful for.
That night was basically a success – the bachelorette was pretty intoxicated and struggled to make it into the house after closing down the bar ;). That’s the way it’s supposed to be!
Saturday morning, mom and I headed out to a family reunion for lunch, which was (you guessed it) OUTSIDE in the Texas heat. It was pretty shaded, though, and there was at least a breeze – which is more than I could say for Friday night! It was honestly really good to catch up with family that I hadn’t seen in probably 4 years or more. We laughed, we ate (way too much), we played bingo, and we ate some more. A fun time had by all, I’d say!
After the reunion, mom and I headed home to an empty house. It was 5pm on a Saturday and we were both home with no plans and no distractions. I took a shower and seriously enjoyed the air conditioning at home. It felt amazing, and we didn’t even turn on the TV! We both just relaxed, played games on our phones, read, took naps, and then went to bed. I slept off and on for about an hour or so, and then I read for a good while. Ultimately, I decided to just go to bed for the night. It was amazing after being so busy!
Yesterday was church with mom and hanging around the house while it rained. We started a new puzzle on Saturday and made some major progress on it yesterday! It’s fun, but I forgot just how much patience it requires (hint: it’s a lot!). Cory also came over yesterday to spend the day together. Sadly, he wasn’t feeling very well, but it was nice to be able to actually take care of him when he was sick. I cooked up some soup and made him as comfortable as possible. Even if it wasn’t quite how I imagined it, I seriously enjoyed the time I got to spend with him. It’s few and far between lately, so I just cherished it.
I can’t believe how busy this weekend was and just how much time I spent in a car! I’m so tired of driving, and yet I’ll be commuting all week long. *sigh*. And it looks like the chaos is only going to continue. This weekend is Father’s Day, and then it’s almost time for our church picnic! June is halfway over, and it feels like it had just gotten here. I guess it’s a reminder to be more intentional about slowing down and enjoying the moment, not looking forward to what’s next. And although busy, I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend. I got to spend a lot of uninterrupted time with my mom and it was so good for us both! I don’t even remember the last time we spent more than 24 straight hours together – without getting on each other’s nerves! It was amazing and I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.
How was your weekend?
