July 31, 2017 in life lately

July was a big and fun month for us! We went on vacation, spent time with Cory’s extended family, and braved our first plane ride with an infant (and survived). We fit a lot in this month, but it really made it fly by and I can’t believe we’re at the end of it already.

The highs:

  • Landon meeting his great grandparents!
  • Landon’s first beach trip.

The lows:

  • Landon’s first illness.

C U R R E N T L Y
loving: My family! I’m in awe and in love and am oh so blessed.
contemplating: The best way to utilize my new journals! I fell victim to May Designs’ Christmas in July sale and finally pulled the trigger on a dot grid notebook. I’ve just about filled my current bullet journal, so I’m anxious to begin in the new ones!
smelling: Baby soap. Love, love, love!
reading: Blogs! I’m loving Blissfully Boyce, Mix and Match Mama, and Anchors Aweigh. I’ve followed all of them for a while now and still can’t get enough! Also, do yourself a favor and follow Christina Boyce on Instagram and watch her stories. I promise you won’t regret it! She’s a riot.
deciding: All the things pertaining to our sweet boy. Parenting is hard work, y’all, and decisions have to be made on the daily – especially decisions you never could’ve imagined! It’s all consuming.
learning: To utilize every spare minute that I may get, especially while Landon is sleeping. I used to have to block a chunk of time out to journal or bible study or blog, but I’m learning to do these things in smaller bits of time and still get the most out of it.
watching: Baywatch. Seriously. And it’s bringing back so many memories! Haha. I haven’t seen this show in years.
writing: My vacation recap! It should be up sometime this week (or next) – fingers crossed! Life with a baby really does change my timeframe on things. We’re on Landon time all the time.
hating: The heat. Especially having a baby and lugging around so much “stuff” these days. Holy heatstroke.
listening: To all the books on Audible. This really hasn’t changed over the past few months and I’m LOVING it!
craving: Some “me time”. But that’s normal for a new mom, right?
planning: My blog editorial calendar for next month. I’m trying to be proactive and continue to set goals and deadlines, even if I don’t meet them all the time (hi, almost-4-month-old in the house).
needing: To know where the time goes! It flies by and I cannot believe we’re looking at the later part of 2017 already. It seriously blows my mind that I’ve gone through the third trimester of pregnancy, had a baby, and that Landon’s 4 month milestone is in just a few days.
dreading: Nothing! I seriously sat here staring at “dreading” for longer than I care to admit and cannot come up with a single thing. And instead of making something up, I’m just going to be honest and say that right now, life is good. Really good. And I’m not dreading a single thing right now!
wanting: Three day weekends every weekend. Why can’t the work week be four days and weekends be three days every single week? Why isn’t this the norm yet? I’ll never understand.
reminiscing: Over these last (almost) four months with Landon. It’s hard to imagine life before him and I wouldn’t have it any other way. That’s what they all say, isn’t it? Babies sure do change things.
eating: Better, finally! I’m no longer eating all the things in sight at every hour of the day. Thank goodness! There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
drinking: Bai water. It’s pretty good!
swooning over: My son. With him being sick lately, I’ve spent more time with him and have gotten to just cuddle and play with him. And no joke, I tear up almost every time that sweet boy gives me the biggest grin.
feeling: Tired. But it’s pretty much a constant state of being these days, so I’m adjusting and learning that it’s the new normal around here.
working on: Some fun and big blog changes! More details to come.
hoping: To figure out what to get Cory for his birthday next month! Guys are SO HARD to shop for!
looking forward to: Cooler weather. I know it’s not going to happen anytime soon, but this heat is for the birds. Bring on winter!

Lord, I thank you for the precious gifts that you’ve given us. We’ve gotten to experience so many firsts for Landon this month, and I truly cherish each and every one of them. I pray that August will be fruitful and that my family remains healthy and happy as this year moves forward. I pray for more time in the Word with you and to enhance my prayer life. I want more of You, Lord. Amen.
