Since moving back home, life has been busy. There’s always someone around and things to do, and I’ve still been unpacking and getting settled. It’s been a bit crazy if I’m being honest. But a good kind of crazy :).
This past weekend was a great one spent with lots of family and my boyfriend. It was great!
Friday proved to be a long drive home. It was my first glimpse of Friday traffic, but it was also SXSW in Austin, which meant more traffic. I got through it, though, and spent most of the evening unpacking bags. I can’t even put into words how happy I’ll be once all my things are unpacked where they’re supposed to be, whether it be in my room or in storage. I’m just done…so done. But I also got curtains hung on Friday in this fashion:
My family has been absolutely amazing in this move and in helping me get settled. They’re amazing and I’m so blessed to have their help and support! I’d be living out of boxes and bags forever if it weren’t for them. Seriously.
Saturday, I finally got to sleep in. My new commute to work isn’t too terrible, but I have to get used to it. My body is used to zoning out after about 30 minutes driving home from work. Now that I’ve added an hour to that, it’s definitely taking its toll. So I was very thankful to catch up on some sleep on Saturday! Then we headed out to my almost-sister-in-law’s bridal shower, which would’ve been way more fun if I wasn’t so poor. *womp womp* It was a Pampered Chef shower, which in my opinion is the best kind of bridal shower! I had one for my wedding in 2011 and ended up with all of the kitchen stuff in the divorce, so I’m still basking in all my Pampered Chef glory. Their stuff is amazing!

Saturday evening was spent with more family, and a hysterial-laughing-fit photo session in my parents’ kitchen. It’s those moments that make life worth living. And the photos you get from it? Priceless.
We rounded out the night with some Cards Against Humanity and all was well.
Sunday, I started the day with my boyfriend, drinking coffee on my parents’ back porch and watching the sunrise. Yes, please! It was a morning I won’t be forgetting anytime soon, and I can’t say enough how blessed I am to have him in my life! Was it 100% sweet, mushy, and romantic? No. We cuddled under a blanket and were smartasses to each other. It’s how we roll and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was the perfect start to what turned into a great day. And because of it, I have a new home screen on my phone. 🙂
We were in town for lunch and my dad so graciously accepted my plan to eat at Oakridge, which serves an all you can eat buffet and ALWAYS has sauerkraut! My heart and stomach were super happy when we drove up to the place. And no one else complained :). Ha! After we all stuffed our faces, we headed home and naps were had. It was just that kind of day!
After sleeping off the food, I decided it was time to wash my car. It was filthy and she’s still brand new, so she needed a good cleaning! We got all the supplies and got to work, mostly with my guy telling me what to do…that’s how it should be right? 😉 It definitely meant so much to me to have him there, even doing the little things like washing my car. And after it was done, we set to work on my dad’s truck and then my mom’s car.
So clean and happy! They’re looking great on the roads this morning, just sayin. So, we ended the day watching the sunset after our car washing, and my heart was happy. I love that we can be doing something extraordinary and big or mundane and little but still have the best time. It’s what makes life fun and worth it. A day with him by my side, with my family, from sunrise to sunset, is a good day in my book.
