Celebrations are amazing in and of themselves, but when you celebrate an amazing and inspiring woman, it’s a million times better! And that’s just what we did this past Saturday. We celebrated a woman who has inspired, motivated, loved, celebrated, laughed, dreamed, and lived for ninety years. And she’s still going strong.
My great Aunt Martha is a woman I look up to. She has been through so much and still enjoys each and every day that she’s blessed with. She lives and loves with fervor, and she cherishes her family more than anything. The praise and love that was shared among her 5 children as they each stood up to talk about their beloved mother was something that will resonate with me for a long, long while. It’s the kind of bond that all mothers dream of having with their children. It’s a sense of family like I’ve never seen before!
Although I don’t spend a lot of time with Aunt Martha, she inspires me. And seeing her with her brother, my grandfather (Pops), always, always, always put a smile on my face – on everyone’s face! The love that those two had for each other was amazing and so much fun to witness. Although Pops is no longer with us, his passion for life and family lives on through his sister. Martha carries those characteristics with pride, and it shows.
Martha is so many things to so many people: mother, grandmother, bingo buddy, great-grandmother, friend, aunt, neighbor, mom, great-great grandmother…the list goes on. She’s touched so many lives, and the turnout on Saturday only further proved it. The love in that room was just radiating, and I’m so blessed to have been a part of it.
HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY, AUNT MARTHA! LOVE YOU!
Aww, I love family celebrations like that. Happy Birthday to your Aunt Martha!!
