This weekend was another good one (I feel like I say that every weekend, but what a blessing!). I actually didn’t have any plans this past weekend, except to spend some quality time with my guy. And that’s exactly what we did! Thank Heavens for laid back weekends. Seriously.
He loaded up two of his dogs and drove over to my parents’ house. My parents and my brother all had plans this weekend and weren’t really home, so Cory and I got to be lazy, relax, and just enjoy each other’s company watching movies, cooking, and doing regular things. And let me just say I pray that I never take those regular things for granted! It was so great to decide on what to cook for supper, shower, get comfy, cook, and just hang out in the living room watching some movies on TV without any distractions or other people to consider. It wasn’t anything grandiose or complicated or expensive, but it was nice.
We weren’t totally lazy, though. We did get some things done – more wedding-related DIY things for my little brother’s wedding (NEXT WEEKEND!!!) and got the horses penned up. Actually, they penned themselves up and we just closed the gate ;). Ha! If only that was all that was needed because sadly, it’s not. The back portion of the pen had a fence down, which meant Cory and I spent two hours fixing it. In the heat. In Texas. In flip flops. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do! Ultimately, we got it done, learned a lot about each other (he learned that I don’t particularly enjoy manual labor and/or being outside in the heat), and enjoyed the air conditioning once we got back to the house! Hey, it might be the most ghetto fence on the face of the planet, but it’s serving its purpose. After all, it’s totally temporary. 🙂
Yesterday, we slept in, played with the dogs, Cory cooked breakfast (and lunch!), and we watched a few more movies. We laughed, talked, and just really enjoyed each other’s company. I even watched a horror movie, which never happens, so it must be love. That’s the only explanation! Haha.
Overall, it was a weekend doing regular things with the most amazing guy. Regular things that I used to take for granted. Regular things that, on my own, might be lonely, but things that were made all that much better with the best company a girl could ask for. Regular things. This weekend taught me that regular things are exceptional with the right perspective.
How was YOUR weekend?
