The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

November 20, 2014 in holiday

Call me crazy, but I have ZERO problems with stores having their Christmas displays up already and shelves covered in decorations and gifts. Zero.

Y’all, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! I’m not saying that Thanksgiving should be skipped or bypassed, because it’s definitely important and a holiday I look forward to every single year. Being thankful is so very important and a good reminder for us all to take a step back from our daily routines and to-do lists to truly acknowledge our blessings and be thankful for all the things we normally take for granted or are too busy to notice. I love me some Thanksgiving. And don’t even get me started on the food! But in all honesty, Thanksgiving is a holiday I’ve looked forward to every year, celebrating at my parents’ house with family, fun, food, and the buzzing of comfort. It’s homey. It’s cozy. It’s what I live for.

However, Christmas is only 28 days after Thanksgiving. And Christmas always entails more – more decorations, more plans, more gifts, more money, more traveling, more, more, more. It’s a part of the celebration to (for lack of a better phrase) ‘go all out‘ for Christmas. It’s what we do. Point blank. And I for one know that it’s a LOT of work to prepare a home for Christmas, and it just so happens to be my all-time favorite holiday. So, yes, I did have my tree up and home decorated on November 8th this year. I ain’t mad about it! I’ve absolutely loved having my tree up and lights twinkling as I lounge in my toasty home as Texas received some colder temperatures these past few weeks. And I won’t be getting tired of it anytime soon!

I also truly believe the Christmas season begins on December 1st, so I want to fully prepare my home and my heart to celebrate such an amazing holiday as I remember and rejoice the reason for the season. If part of that is putting out all of my decorations in the beginning of November, then so be it! It helps my heart and soul, and it is a constant reminder of the season we are approaching. Yes, please.

Christmastime also means shopping, and lots of it! Stores are abuzz with shoppers like crazy this time of year, and it only gets more chaotic once December rolls around. So, you best believe that I’m already all over my Christmas shopping list and am doing everything in my power to stay on top of it early. Of course, there will be a few things here and there that I will have to wait to purchase (you know, once names are drawn and wish lists are exchanged), but there’s nothing stopping me from getting a head start. And I’m all about avoiding the crazy crowds AND not paying for shipping (that means online shopping is a no-no for me)! So, I’m thankful that stores allow me to take care of savings and buying all things Christmas in November. Yep, I’m that girl. And proud of it!

Now excuse me while I go enjoy my gorgeous decorations, twinkling lights, and Vanilla Bean Noel candle all.month.long. #sorrynotsorry (Full Christmas decoration post to come!)

When do you start decorating for Christmas? What are some of your favorite decorations?

Oh my gosh! Love that tree and LOVE that candle! I'm totally with you! Christmas is UP at our house also, we don't have a tree yet because we get a real one and none of the tree farms open until this weekend but I'm so excited to find the perfect tree!

I was going to write a similar post too – about how it's okay with me that Christmas stuff is already out. I don't see why people get so bent out of shape about it coming out so early. Yea, Thanksgiving rocks too, but Christmas is still awesome!!!!

Eeeeek! You're getting me excited for the holidays! The fam just went to "Moonlight Madness" downtown to celebrate the beginning of Christmas shopping.
